Yesterday one of the students I work with was having a bit of a nervous breakdown. She’s still trying to figure out what she wants in life and is going to take 6 months off in order to try and get things in line for what she wants to do next. But yesterday she was panicking. Would she ever be employable? Would she ever even graduate? Would she be stuck living at home as a college dropout waiting? Would her portfolio suck? Would she be able to get in to the college of her dreams?
Here is the thing, and this is important, so please listen up. There is no deadline on life. If you don’t graduate college by age 22 you haven’t failed! Maybe your path is just different! Not everyone even needs a college degree. Each person’s path is different. What one person achieves in 22 years is not really comparable to your life. Your choices will take you different places than that person’s choices. And you have no way of knowing what they might have passed up to get there. Different things are important to different people. Figure out what is important to you and then stick with it. It doesn’t matter what someone else finds important.
My brother is 27 and just now graduating with his bachelors degree. Because to him, there were more important things in life than getting that degree done within 4 years. And I’m proud of him for each one of his choices.
Be you. As long as you’re trying to be you, whatever you achieve is ok.
I feel like I'm losing patience with my student workers more and more frequently. Which is terrible. I should have more patience! But honestly they're slacking!
"T" has worked for us for a year already, he's delivered new computers before. He's been scolded before for not bringing back the old computer when he delivered the new one. And then he does it again!
"K" I have scolded repeatedly for not signing off on the packet-master when he finishes a section of Computer Prep. I just whacked him in the head repeatedly with the packet saying "Sign off on the packet!" With each whack! (Don't worry, it is just 3 pieces of paper.)
Am I losing patience too easily or are they slacking?
I need to start counting backwards from 10 every time I start losing my patience. In Japanese. ;-)
spilledmilk25 made a comment in her Tumbler about how Massu was the Pinkie Pie of NEWS. That got me thinking about how all the NEWS members might be as the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic crew. So naturally I mentioned it to her and she made up a bunch of pictures of NEWS members as Ponies that matched up with our conclusions! :-D You can find her post here! I took her pictures and combined them into a windows background, cause I couldn't resist a MLP NEWS Background! :-D So she gets credit for these pictures!! And she can ask me to take this down if she wants. :-) I just couldn't resist!
I don't remember many details on the first, just that I was standing on top of a moving train with Uchi Hiroki and someone was shooting at us (I have no idea why, like I said, I don't remember many details). But it was all good, because Uchi was wearing a suit that was bullet-proof, but just looked like a normal business suit! Amazing no?
Second weird dream. I was at the zoo with my hubby and my childhood best friend and we were walking around on a high boardwalk above a giraffe enclosure. At one point in the walk the boardwalk broke and I fell through and into a really big turtle lake below. Somehow a whole bunch of other people (like 20 or so) were also in this lake (like I said it was a really big lake) including Yokoyama Yu! After noticing Yokoyama, I noticed that somehow we had all lost our clothing when we fell in the lake!
Those are my two weird dreams, two among many.[Error: unknown template qotd]
Tomorrow I will try very hard to move on and not let this bring me spiraling down like it did 11 years ago.
People have favorite days of the week? Hmmm... If I had to pick one? Maybe Friday? It sounds cliche, but really, I don't work fridays (usually) and so I have that evening at home with my hubby. ^_^ And an evening at home with my hubby is nice. Usually I spend my evenings like this one, at work in the library waiting for people to come to me with computer problems.
